Good app. Needs a better way to source advertising. I\'ve been bombarded with scam ads since I installed it. Update: After having a lengthy email exchange with CBC I decided to uninstall it and use the web site instead. Got sick of the scam click-bait ads from \"top gut doctor\". It is better to just use Firefox with an ad blocker. CBC is at least partially funded by the public funds. It is quite disappointing that the app curators resort to showing scam ads to the users to get extra ad revenue.

I love this app! I rarely have time to watch TV news on a regular basis (which is my preference). This app, is always up to the minute, clear, concise, unbiased... and offers up a great general overview of all of the latest events/issues on the app\'s \'front page\'. You can scroll down, quickly review the headlines, and click on whichever articles interest you to access more detailed information. It is also possible to program your preferred topics to appear first upon opening the app.

The News is bombarded with advertisements, both photos & text THROUGHOUT the article AND video ads that you can\'t skip, resulting in 30-60 seconds of ADS you MUST watch before accessing the content you actually want. I realize it is a business, BUT it IS still a crown corporation and is paid for by Canadian taxpayers. Forcing us to consume FOR-PROFIT advertising before being able to access the news about our own country is just sheer greed. We already pay for CBC. We shouldnt have to pay twice.

I have complained to cbc. Ads now run without the option to close the app. If you click a news item. An ad will play for upwards of 20 seconds. If i decide i dont care that much about the news item the ad continues to play with no option to close and abort my selection. No response to my complaint so far. Was always fine before not sure what changed.

Everything is Breaking News, apparently. Too many notifications and no way to dial it back. Also, the app doesn\'t behave properly in the Android ecosystem. If I click a link to a cbc story on Facebook, then go back, I should end up back in Facebook. Instead, I\'m left back out at the desktop. Too many nags to review the app, too. When that\'s your game plan, you get fewer stars from me, thanks.

I use this app several times a week but recently it\'s just sucking my battery dry even when not in use. Yesterday I did not use the app at all, I had used my phone for a total of 1 hour, yet 70% of my battery was gone. According to the battery usage stats, this app was responsible for 30% of of the usage, and CBC Listen was responsible for 40%. Neither app was running and showed 0 minutes of use. Sorry CBC, I had to uninstall.

I check this app every day. My only regret is that I can\'t sort the articles based on recency. I end up reviewing many headlines I have previously read. Being able to mark an article as \"read\" would be a most welcome improvement.

Too many adds and pop ups which slow down loading of the page considerably. Trying to close out the full page pop ups takes you to further advertisement. This resulted in the inability to access local news during hurricane Dorian when cell service was downgraded. Miss the days when CBC was advertisement-free

Incredibly long ads, more often and lengthier than on private apps. From a government News Corp it is shameful. The ads often take over my phone screen in a way that prevents me from switching views or easily shutting off the app. The power button is the only one to have worked. The bias, framing of headlines and stories, and lack of critical facts presented in many articles is hugely disturbing. I get more unbiased north american news these days from RT and the BBC. Avoid the DPRC news.

Either malfunctioning or purposefully scammy. I tried to read a CBC article in my browser, however it opened an instant app in chrome. I was unable to close it, it kept reopening. I restarted my phone, app remained open. The only way to get it to close was to download the actual app from playstore, close it and uninstall. Very bothersome.
