Description of Decibel X - Pro Sound Meter

"Decibel X" is one of very few sound meter apps on the market that has highly reliable, pre-calibrated measurements and supports frequency weightings: ITU-R 468, A and C. It turns your phone device into a professional sound meter, precisely measures the sound pressure level (SPL) all around you. This extremely useful and beautiful sound meter tool will not only be an essential gadget for many uses but also bring you a lot of fun. Have you wondered how quiet is your room or how loud is a rock concert or sport event? "Decibel X" will help you answer all of those.

- Trusted accuracy: the app is carefully tested and calibrated for most devices. The precision is matching with real SPL devices

- Frequency weighting filters: ITU-R 468, A, B, C, Z

- Spectrum analyzer: FFT and BAR graphs to display real time FFT. Those are very useful for frequency analysis and musical tests. Real time predominant frequency is also displayed.

- Powerful, smart history data management:

+ Recording data can be saved into a list of history records for future access and analysis

+ Each record can be exported as hi-res PNG graph or CSV text via sharing services

+ Fullscreen mode to give overview the whole history of an record

- Dosimeter: NIOSH, OSHA standards

- InstaDecibel to capture your dB report overlaid on photos and easily shared via popular social networks (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).

- Beautiful, intuitive and carefully crafted UI design

- Standard time weightings (Response Time): SLOW (500 milliseconds), FAST (200 milliseconds) and IMPULSE (50 milliseconds)

- Trimming calibration from -50 dB to 50 dB

- Standard measurement range from 20 dBA up to 130 dBA

- Spectrogram

- HISTO graph for plotted history of the recorded values

- WAVE graph with 2 display modes: Rolling & Buffer

- Real time scale level chart

- Display Current, Average/Leq, and Max values with both nice and clear digital and analog layouts

- Quick reference text to help you compare with real-life examples

- "Keep Device Stay Awake" option for long duration recording

- Reset and clear current recording at any time

- Pause/Resume at any time

- Please do not expect a quiet room reading will be 0 dBA. The range 30 dBA - 130 dBA is the standard usable range and an average quiet room will be about 30 dBA.

- Although most devices are pre-calibrated, custom calibration is suggested for serious purposes requiring higher precision and accuracy. To calibrate, you will need a real external device or calibrated sound meter as a reference, then adjust the trimming value until the reading matches with the reference.

App works fine. But why does it need permission to use my camera to take pics or record video? Why does it need access to my location? Why does it need access to my photos or media files? Why does it need to record audio? This is not just a DB meter. It is also one of many phishing apps that collect data and use that data for targeted advertisement and they clearly use that data as a commodity to sell for profit. Data like the things and people you have taken pics of and locations you have been and conversations you have had about topics related to product advertisement. For instance, you could be talking about the newest movie and then suddenly you are seeing advertisements for that movie. The app works fine. In fact it works better than I thought it would. But I am not willing to give up that much privacy. All that said I will give it a neutral rating. 5 for function and 1 for privacy concerns.

I have also got this App on another phone and had both apps running at the same time in the same room, but they show hugely different readings. On my Samsung 8note it reads an average of 45dcb (quiet room) and on my Huawei 10 it reads an average of 77.9dcb. (loud singing), both phones are in the same location. On a subjective level the noise is more like loud singing than a quiet room. I suppose this App is only as good as the phones\' microphone.

It does what it says..I have a Crazy large stereo system set up, and i was concerned my young children may have been listening at volumes that were dangerous..Although i had know real precise way of knowing where to set the guide lines for Music, and Movies..This app has allowed me to set up listening rules, and max volumes for them...I was supprised to see just how many DB were being produced just barely turning the volume up..Great App , and will help protect the kids..

Understand the need for Ads. That\'s OK, but taking over device even when sound is OFF and playing full screen with audio is NEVER OK. There are lots of private situations that this is inappropriate. But, also, I contacted the developer and - no responses. So, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Didn\'t appear to do anything. Not sure how I can be using it wrong. I open it and there\'s a needle and empty graph. Nether moved no matter what I did. If this is because of location denied then whatever. I\'m recording a loud found why do you need my location.? Useless

This is definitely not accurate, the only sound in my house is the ceiling fan(on speed 3 out of 5)and it\'s reading is 80+ decibels. I move to my bedroom with the window closed and not even the fan on and it\'s reading 50+ decibels, which is literally impossible because I\'ll hear a pin drop of it falls on the ground!

proved a point at my local club that the music was causing serious hearing damage to all the members. Thank you.

It\'s pretty spot on. Out of the box it was about 3 or 4 decibels off. The running graph is very nice if you have to stop to look at the result of your test. The ability to save your tests is very handy and it\'s ready to go immediately after installation as it requires little initial setup. Its a good application; I\'ll definitely continue to use it.

Scam. I tried to purchase the full version through this version. This app charges the equivalent of micro transactions to get features or remove ads. None of that applies towards the pro version, which costs less than all the micro fees. Do not pay anything towards this version. If you want this app just buy Pro version outright. I want my money back for this waste.

I\'ve just been to the hospital audiology department with my wife and asked them to calibrate this application. It was more or less spot on, just a tiny fraction out, which adjustment was made. That it was so very close is testament to how good this is. Since seeing how loud ambient noise is, not least on the train and just walking around London, I\'ve taken to wearing ear plugs to protect my hearing. This has also proved useful persuading people to turn down music in places. Great application!
