Description of Legends of Runeterra

In this strategy card game, skill defines your success—not luck. Mix and match iconic champions, allies, and regions of Runeterra to unlock unique card synergies and outplay your opponent.

MASTER EVERY MOMENT

Dynamic, alternating gameplay means you can always react and counter, but so can your opponent. Choose from dozens of champion cards to include in your deck, each with a different mechanic inspired by their original League of Legends abilities.

Champions enter the battle as powerful cards, and if you play smart, they level up to become even more epic. Level your champions multiple times in-game, and earn Champion Mastery crests the more you play.

ALWAYS A NEW WAY TO PLAY

Every champion and ally in the game comes from a region of Runeterra. You have access to cards from nine regions: Demacia, Noxus, Freljord, Piltover & Zaun, Ionia, Targon, Shurima, the Shadow Isles, and Bandle City.

Explore how different champions and regions work together to give you unique advantages against your opponents. Combine, adapt, and experiment with frequent new releases in an always-evolving meta.

CHOOSE YOUR PATH

In PvE, each choice you make shapes your journey. React to unique encounters, earn and equip power-ups, unlock new champions, and rise to new challenges as you move across the map. The enemies will get stronger, but so will you—and you’ll discover different endings the more you play.

PLAY TO WIN, NOT PAY TO WIN

Earn cards for free, or buy exactly what you want with shards and wildcards—you’re in control of your collection, and you’ll never pay for random packs of cards. While there’s always the option to purchase specific champions, you can easily complete your collection without spending a cent.

Victory or defeat, each battle brings experience and progress. Choose which region you explore first and unlock the cards that call to you, changing regions as often as you like. As you advance, you’ll collect new allies, spells, and champions.

Once a week, you’ll also unlock chests from the Vault. These chests level up the more you play, increasing the rarity of cards inside from common all the way up to champion. They can also contain wildcards, which can be turned into any card you want—no guessing required.

DRAFT AND ADAPT

Labs are limited-time experimental game modes focused on more extreme changes to the classic Legends of Runeterra formula. Choose a premade deck with specific constraints, or bring your own. The rules are always changing, and sometimes you might need a little help from your friends! Go see what Heimerdinger is cooking up next.

CLIMB THE RANKS

At the end of every season, 1024 qualifying Ranked players on each of LoR’s four regional shards (Americas, Asia, Europe, and Southeast Asia) will be able to compete for pride, glory, and a cash prize in the seasonal tournament.

But Ranked play isn’t the only way to qualify—you can also run the Last Chance Gauntlet. Gauntlets are limited-time competitive modes with unique rules to play around and exclusive rewards to unlock.

I came from Hearthstone after the most recent middle finger they gave to their players. Legends of runeterra is a great game. The gameplay is fun, the art and presentation is excellent. Best of all, there are no loot boxes to chance your cash on. If you pay into the game, you can get whichever cards/aesthetics you want, but you don\'t have to. The rewards system is so good that just playing will get you all the decks eventually. Pay to win does not exist in this game, just skill.

This is what happens when you have AAA devs who aren\'t stingy, cares about their playerbase, and genuinely wants to make a good CCG. You get this. The graphics are amazing. The system can be very deep but it also doesn\'t feel like you have to watch 100\'s of hours of YouTube videos and pouring over guides to understand the game. And the best part is. It\'s free. I mean free to play. Haven\'t spent a dime and having a blast. Quality game.

I love this game mostly because of the reward system and the graphics. Every card has a wonderfully drawn image, a quote, and an individual talent. Every card is unique, and same can be said for every region. Each round is moderately long and can all have such different outcomes, even with the same deck, depending on the cards you draw. Just wish there were more quests to complete. Also buff Garen a little.

The game is really good. At first i thought that it\'s gonna be another pay to win game, but oh boy did the game surprised me. I really love the fact that this game continues to improve upon itself and introduces new mechanics to the game. Here\'s to hoping there\'ll be more single player experiences in the future. Like introducing a higher level of AI to play with. Or an offline version where playing with AI can be fun. Overall, the experience with the game is really great!

Great IP and great game. Coming from Hearthstone, it was hard for me to want to make the jump to a new game after already investing so much money into cards. LoR is different though. In LoR you can play balanced matches without needing all the cards. But that doesn\'t matter, because you can get all the cards you want so quickly and easily just by playing. You can purchase cards with real world money, but cosmetics are where the game makes a profit really.

Its a good game thats getting crushed by terrible balance. You can\'t just keep adding new cards and mechanics every month and not expect older cards to fall by the wayside, and it\'s a damn shame. I like tinkering away at decks to find interesting combos, but that\'s hard to do with a hard limit on how many we can build and new cards upsetting things all the damn time.

First TCG I\'ve ever really played. Didn\'t think they were in my wheelhouse. Boy, was I wrong. This game is nothing short of superb. The card interactions, animations, and decisive game play keep me coming back time and time again. I find myself, after a loss, reflecting back on matches where I could have won if I played it different. There is a ton of depth in Legends of Runeterra. Now if Riot can keep the corporate marketers out, this game will thrive. No more K/DA. That\'s for League.

After playing another digital card game for 5+ years and getting tired of the blizzard of never ending bad experiences, I decided to try LOR based on multiple recommendations. And I couldn\'t be happier! The game is well structured, easy to understand, beautiful to look at and, most of all, FUN! The tutorial was a blast. The characters have character and from what I hear, as a free to play player, the credit card isn\'t the best card. I look forward to investing more time into this. Thanks Riot!

This game is great. You can earn most cards without having to spend a ton (or any) in the store, which is rare for card games like this. There are reward tracks and weekly chests that give you a lot of cards for 100% free as long as you play. Their temporary game modes are always really engaging and fun. I love how so many cards have really cool effects and voice lines that interact with one another. The whole thing is really well done and I heavily recommend playing this game.

I have been enjoying this game since it released. I love that there is no need to purchase microtransation packs. You can get everything reasonably from just playing the game. My only real complaint is the fact that some deeper mechanics aren\'t explained such as specific timings of effects and stack limits on the field. The game does offer many timed \"Lab\" events that do help in learning some of the more complicated nuance. It\'s not perfect. But it\'s pretty great.
