Description of Logcat Extreme Pro

This is the Pro/Donate version of Logcat Extreme with all the features unlocked. If you were on the free version just uninstall it, it's no longer needed.

Logcat Extreme is an enhanced Logcat/Dmesg reader and Logcat recorder which comes with a rich set of features and handy user interface.

Please note: Logcat Extreme Pro requires root access or READ_LOGS permission to show logs properly. For non-rooted devices, in order to grant the READ_LOGS permission connect to a computer & copy/paste the following ADB command:

"adb shell pm grant scd.lcexpro android.permission.READ_LOGS"

Notes:

- In order to start a new Floating Logcat session tap the last button on the right (bottom bar).

Devs corner:

Starting from version 1.3, devs can use intent actions and extras in order to launch the

logcat recorder directly from their apps:

"scd.lcexpro.ACTION_REC" start recording

"scd.lcexpro.ACTION_STOP" stop recording and service associated

"scd.lcexpro.EXTRA_FILTER" logcat filter (string, optional), use in conjunction with ACTION_REC

Excellent app. It is an invaluable tool for diagnosing and fixing apps and Android system problems, specially when nothing else could provide me with any information to work with. So good that I bought the Pro version to give my support. Thanks dev and keep up the good work !

I was beginning to give up on useful tools to help develop directly on my tablet! Because of health reasons, I cannot sit at my PC for long periods of time. I write using AIDE, then do my final compiles on my computer. This app has been the greatest help of any other tool I\'ve used (not just log readers). Thanks SCDevs! I especially like the ability to call the app from my code. Logcat Extreme is nothing short of awesome! Keep it up. I look forward to new, innovative features. I do agree with other reviewers that \"per-app\" would be very useful in the floating viewer, though.

Good ongoing updates & enhancements I\'ve been using the app for a few years and am pleased with the consistent enhancements. Most notably I\'m pleased with the new option to select floating menus or a constant bottom bar menu.

Nice App BUT still missing some important features! 1) No way to specify custom path for saved log files (doesn\'t even say where it stores those internally) Thus you always risk running out of memory on your device, which would truly cause serious problems. 2) No way to cyclically delete old log files (round robin delete). With that you could keep this app running in the background, to catch the odd crash and/or infrequent system failures. W/o that you will eventually fill up all your internal memory with log files. 3) Different color schemes for texts of different message classes. 4) Storage of log files in compressed form, so you can store larger files. 5) Autostart to collect logs at boot time 6) Separate action button/widget for free floating log window (takes to long to get to it through the menu)

doesn\'t worth a dime start logcat >> log.txt from terminal window, that will do the job, this app doesn\'t! EDIT: app won\'t log above 64k lines which was important for me to detect reason of freezing. log splitting is also buggy. won\'t restart after OS reboot... etc.
