Description of SmoothTrack

SmoothTrack provides 6-degrees-of-freedom head tracking using the high resolution camera already built into your device, passing it on to OpenTrack for use in any game that supports TrackIR

SUPPORTS ANY DEVICE WHICH CAN INSTALL GOOGLE AR SERVICES.

----

"The best new controller on the market will only set you back $9.99. It's a smartphone app called SmoothTrack, and if you're flying a plane on PC, you need to check it out." - Polygon

----

It's a near magical experience to seamlessly slightly move your head and have your game perspective immediately play along (the movements in the game are magnified so that you only have to make slight movements of your head to control the camera).

- Simply lean forward to get a closer look at your Flight Simulator cockpit!

- Look a bit up to see the overhead panel of your A320!

- Simply shift your head a bit to the right to see the direction of the space station you're approaching in Elite: Dangerous!

- Look a bit left before a hard left turn in Euro Truck Simulator 2!

No headset or extra equipment of any kind is required! Simply set up your device so that it can see your face. Using the on-screen controls, you can shift your perspective in-game.

Your head movements are slightly exaggerated which enables you to look out of a cockpit side window with just a slight movement of your head to the left.

Includes a dark mode to save your battery and your OLED screen!

Any game that supports the FreeTrack or TrackIR protocol will work with this, including:

- Microsoft Flight Simulator

- Microsoft FSX

- Elite: Dangerous

- IL2: Sturmovik

- Euro Truck Simulator 2

- Kerbal Space Program

- ...and many, many others!

INSTRUCTIONS (included in the app):

On your PC:

On your computer, install and run the free program OpenTrack at github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases.

Press the Windows key -> type "Firewall" -> "Firewall & Network Protection" -> "Advanced Settings" -> Inbound Rules -> New Rule... -> Program -> Program Path to opentrack.exe (probably "c:program files (x86)opentrackopentrack.exe")

Right click on your network symbol at the bottom right of Windows, choose "Open Network & Internet Settings" -> Change Connection Properties -> Choose "Private" instead of "Public" (this will make your PC discoverable to your mobile device)

Press the Windows key -> "Command Prompt" -> type "ipconfig". Find your local IPv4 address (normally starts with 192.168... but maybe 10.0... or theoretically something else)

Now restart OpenTrack.

In Input, choose UDP and open up the settings and note the port (probably 4242).

As Output, choose "Freetrack 2.0 Enhanced" and "Both" in its settings.

In Options, bind a hotkey of your choice to "Center" (say, F10)

Press Start in OpenTrack.

On your mobile device:

(If you have more than one wifi around you to connect to, then in your phone, set any other wifis "Auto-Join" to "off")

Now restart SmoothTrack.

As "IP address" in SmoothTrack, enter the local IPv4 address from above.

As "Port", enter the port from above.

Press Play.

Email support is provided if there are any issues (or if you have any ideas for new features!).

The app works perfectly, I was sceptical but it was less then a tenner so just went for it, but I am not disappointed. If u are on a budget u simply can\'t get something better for the price. I use it for my disabled dad to play American Truck Sim and it has helped him so much. Full credit to the developer cos this is simply exceptional work. I seriously can\'t fault this from price to step by step guide of how to use, took me 15 minutes to set up and it will be used for years to come

While other apps that work with Opentrack require you to duct tape the phone to your head, this uses your phone\'s front camera and nothing else! It\'s not perfect but considering this costs only $10, you can\'t ignore the value for casual simmers like me. A little advice, if you\'re like me and can\'t get the tracking to behave, download the Opentrack profile that\'s on the developer\'s website. Can definitely be improved but I\'m really happy with it right now. Working in both MS Flight Sim and Elite.

This app is incredible. I got it for DCS. It was very easy to set up by following the instructions on the website. The tracking is excellent. I get no noticible lag on my wifi and it works great. I need to fine tune the curves a bit more, but after just a minute or two of adjusting, it is working wonderfully. I tried it briefly on ETS2 and it worked there as well. This really helps with situational awareness and being able to look around the in game environment is incredible. No need to buy Tir5

You get a lot for this price, the quality is good. Integrating the app with OpenTrack was fairly easy. The thing I have the most trouble with is that it won\'t recognize up and down head movements (pitch) when I\'m looking almost all the way to the right or left. For combat flight sims this is crucial and quite annoying when it doesn\'t work. Secondly, it would be helpful to have a USB communication to lower the delay which is OK at the moment (at least I hope a different communication would help). Lastly, the stability is OK as well, there\'s quite some work to be done here to improve it - maybe it\'s not possible with a face recognition algorithms. To sum it up, you get a pretty good product for this price, and I highly recommend buying it if you\'re interested in having a cheap way of tracking your head for your sim games.

I was a bit sceptical at first, but the app blew me away. Even with the wireless connection the app works exactly like you would expect. Even in low light conditions I didn\'t have any problems. There is also a wired option available for even less latency. A awesome feature in the app is to turn off the screen, this way you don\'t get distracted while playing! Overal a really great app and super cheap compared to TrackIR. I\'ve also tried facetracknoir but this app feels more responsive.

This is amazing. I\'ve used it for 3 test landings after a very simple install and its fantastic. Cant wait to try it out in other games too. If my long term experience matches first impression then this is the best $10 I\'ve spent, in a long line of computer equipment. Thanks! I hope you make millions off this app! I eas irritated at first to miss Beta at $5 but now, I\'d have probably paid $20! Not suggesting you raise the price, just letting people know its worth every penny.

This is a great little app that works very well! I needed to allow the port through the windows firewall and then it all just worked without any other fiddling about. It definitely benefits from a bit of tweaking the curves in opentrack, but that\'s par for the course with everyone having different devices and seating arrangements. This app has already received a number of good feature updates in a short amount of time and is nearing perfection in my book... Being able to offload the face processing task away from the main gaming pc is something I\'ve been after for a while, and finally here it is!

It works. I hope the dev keeps working on this to add wired mode and make it visually pleasing. What features, if any, are you planning on adding? Just under £10 is worth it and if you play games like sim games. Well done. Edit: if your phone is rooted you can fiddle with things to make it work in wired mode. If you have a cat that likes to chill with you while playing games it\'ll lose tracking and use the cat which is just wonderful.

Works just as advertised. I use it with OpenTrack as described by the author and you really need to fiddle with the curves and settings to get the most out of it. But when done it works superbly. One of the cheapest and simplest solutions for DIY headtracking using what you already have. I was using HeadtrackNoIR before but this seems to work better so far.

Best $5 I\'ve spent in awhile! This is a really good head tracking app thats super cheap! I thought maybe this app wouldnt do that well with tracking your head, but it proved me wrong! The only thing I could see people complaining about is the difficulty of setup, and maybe even with what little latency there is. I dont notice the latency while playing games and the setup was pretty easy to me. Thank you for this wonderful app!
